How it works
Capture is a person and a title
Those two fields are all the capture sheet requires. Price, link, notes and a photo are available on the same sheet and can be left empty, so an idea can be filed in three taps and completed later.
No account, and the list stays yours
There is no login, and no server of ours between you and your own list. Nothing you save is sent to us. Export is available at any time, free, with or without Pro.
Sync runs on your own iCloud, and is free
iPhone, iPad and Mac stay in step through your own iCloud account rather than a sync service of ours. It is included for everyone rather than sold with Pro, and the app is fully functional with sync off, with no network, or if sync fails.
Every date, counted down
Birthdays, anniversaries, and any other recurring date you want to define. The app tracks which occurrence is coming, so it can tell you this is their 40th, and it notifies the week before rather than the morning of.
Occasion lists, with a budget
An occasion list collects ideas across everybody into a single checklist, with a budget and a running total of what has actually been spent against it.
A record of what you gave, and when
Every idea marked as given stays in your history, organised by year, for as long as you keep the app. It is what answers the question of what you gave someone last year.
Capture without opening the app
Send a link or a photo in from the share sheet, ask Siri, or use the home or lock screen widget. The idea is filed against the right person without launching the app.
Nothing is shared with anyone
No wishlists, no registries, no shared lists, no invitations. This is a private list about other people, and there is no sharing feature, so there is nothing to turn off.
A native Mac app
Three columns, a menu bar, and Cmd+N to capture an idea from anywhere, rather than the iPad build running in a window. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.
No seasonal theming
The app looks the same in March as it does in December. It is a year-round tool that happens to be busiest at the end of the year.
Free and Pro
The free tier has no time limit and no advertising: up to five people, unlimited ideas, iCloud sync, reminders, one active occasion list, the current year of history, search, and export of everything.
Gifts Pro is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription: unlimited people, unlimited occasion lists, budgets and spend tracking, every year of history, photos on people and ideas, widgets and the Control Center capture button, themes and alternate app icons. It is a Universal Purchase, so buying it once covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Sync is outside the paywall deliberately. It runs on your own iCloud storage, so it costs us nothing to provide, and an unreliable or missing sync is the most likely way an app like this loses somebody's list.
Support
Email support at wareshq dot com. Include your iOS or macOS version, the app version from Settings, and what you were doing when the problem occurred. Nothing about your list reaches us on its own, so your description is all we have to work from.
Questions
Can anyone else see my list?
No. There is no sharing, no shared list, and no way to send one to another person. The app was built without sharing deliberately, and it is not planned.
Where is my data stored?
On the device, in the app's own container, and in your own iCloud while sync is enabled. Nothing is sent to us. We operate no server that could receive it.
Do I have to pay for sync?
No. Sync is included for everyone, on every platform. It starts disabled, so nothing leaves the device until you enable it in Settings, and the storage it uses is your own iCloud.
How many notifications will it send?
One digest each morning, at a time you choose, covering what is coming up. Not a stream of individual alerts, and nothing at all on a day with nothing due.
How do I get my data out?
Settings, then Export. It writes a folder to a location you choose, containing your data as JSON and CSV plus any photos you attached. Export is free in every version and every tier.
Do I buy it again for the Mac?
No. One purchase unlocks Pro on iPhone, iPad and Mac under the same Apple ID.
Privacy: Gift List collects no data. The only network traffic is your own iCloud, which can be turned off. Read the privacy policy.
